IntermediateYou have fallen in love with Lindy Hop and Charleston, and are now completely hooked. You are working on mixing 6s & 8s, adding some jazz steps to your partner dancing, and taking on those uptempo tunes with triple steps. You want to work on partner connection and smoothing out transitions in your social dancing. You social dance on a fairly regular basis, and would love to add some new moves to your repertoire.
AdvancedYour love affair with Lindy Hop has grown into a steady relationship. You no longer worry about things like 6-count and 8-count, but just dance to the music. You are comfortable adding in new rhythms and shapes to your dancing, have dabbled in other vernacular jazz dances (like Authentic Jazz or Balboa), and are ready to take on new technique challenges. You social dance every week, and attend workshops, classes, and events out of town whenever you can.
MastersYou are more comfortable on the dance floor than off it. You love working on the subtle techniques and rhythms of Lindy Hop and Authentic Jazz and are looking for a challenge. At a social dance you are the one starting a solo jam in the corner or swinging out to the fast version of Jumpin’ at the Woodside. You have completed all of the series levels in your local scene, and regularly travel to big events to gain new techniques and ideas. You likely teach on a regular basis, perform with a dance team, and have won a competition or two.
